American Marten
Range Description
The American marten is found throughout the northern portions of the United States into Canada. The distribution is under revision as it is currently being updated to reflect the recognition of the Pacific marten (Martes caurina) as a separate species.
Recent Changes
A population of American marten was recently found in southern Vermont with the potential for a second population in the northern part of the state.
