The fisher is found throughout North America from the east to west coasts of the United States and Canada. They extend south along the west coast to the southern Sierras and into the northern portion of the Rocky Mountains. In the east, they extend as far south as eastern Tennessee and western Virginia.
Fisher have recently expanded into parts of southeast Alaska and have been detected in Iowa and eastern Ohio.
